Every day do something that will inch you closer to a better tomorrow. Doug Firebaugh

Introduction

I have spent the last 42 years on a fantastic journey.  I have journeyed through wellness, and unwellness.  I have had doctors tell me that I may have cancer.  I have had scrapes, bruises, and broken bones.  I have struggled with allergies, enduring hundreds and hundreds of desensitization shots over many years.

I had digestive problems and a self-imposed diet with little variety, and almost no nourishing fresh foods and vegetables.

I have dealt with skin rashes that doctors would label "atopic dermatitis" which I now understand to mean "unclassifiable inflammation of the skin".  I have lain awake, or tossed and turned, barely asleep, unconsciously, or sometimes consciously (because it itched maddeningly) scratching my own skin until I bled. If doctors are unable to even classify the problem, how can they possibly guide you to a solution?

I don't say this to be down on the medical profession.  Many doctors have nothing but the best intentions for their patients.  Unfortunately traditional Western medical training is not enough to help many people who are suffering.

My frustrations with the mainstream medical community led me to read and study many books, talk to numerous people in the alternative healthcare field, and do years of medical experimentation on one human subject (myself of course).  I have been able to work the suffering out of my life and it is my hope that I can help you to do the same.  The information on this site and the products that I promote are all things that I believe in, use on a daily basis, and feel strongly would help to catalyze positive change in your life too.

The findings of my years of research have brought me to some very basic truths.  The irony is that I knew these things, as you have known them, before my journey began.  They are not magic; they are simple common sense.

Truths

The human body is a perfect healing machine.  It is made to take any abuse that we give it in day-to-day life.  It asks for very little in return.

Many of our grandparents lived to a ripe old age (think about this expression - not a decaying old age) because they followed these truths without even knowing that they were.  Before the industrial revolution and the advent of modern chemicals it was easy to find clean drinking water.  For most of our grandparents it was as close as the well in the back yard.

Truth #1 - Drink enough clean pure water.

Our grandparents had it easy!  They could do this every day without fail, without effort.  Now everyone's tap water has chemicals in it.  Some of these are not removed during processing, others we intentionally add.  Many of us are becoming aware of this, so we buy bottled water, or have a filter in our home.  I will show you later why this may not be enough to ensure pure, healthy water.

What did your grandparents do during the day?  Before all of our labor saving devices, much of it involved effort and motion.  This is what the body was designed for.  We are not plants that are firmly rooted in one place to be moved only by the breeze.  Our body is meant to be in constant motion.  Don't believe me?  How long can you hold still and not die?  Maybe you can sit motionless in a chair, but are you really motionless?   Can you stop your breathing?  Only for a short time.  Can you stop the circulation of your blood and the beating of your heart?  We wouldn't last more than a few minutes that way.  This brings us to truth # 2.

Truth # 2 - Enjoy motion throughout your day.

Notice that I didn't say exercise.  It is important to have varied motion involving your whole body.  Not just once or twice a week at the gym, but throughout each and every day.  Involve your whole body, stretch, bend, move, but get variety and do things that are fun!  Challenge yourself to do something that you have never done before, or haven't done in years.  Go easy at first.  Listen to your body.  It will tell you what you can handle and what is good for you.

Think about what your grandparents ate.  Much of it came from their own garden, or a tree in their yard, or a local market.  We don't have this luxury any more.  Most of us are so rushed that we just "drive through", or pick up something from the grocery that we can put in the microwave and serve the kids and ourselves.  I am not going to go on and on about this (although I could).  I will give you the clue and you must find your own path on this.

Truth #3 - Eat fresh chemical free (organic) food.

Before we had access to television, the Internet, and electric lighting, humans had a natural schedule that they followed.  When the sun came up, the day began.  When the sun set the day was over.  This natural rhythm ensured that we followed truth #4.

Truth #4 - Get enough restful sleep each night.

Many of us have trouble sleeping because we are not following the first three truths.

Can it be this easy?

It sounds easy and it is, in theory anyway.  You may be stuck in the unhealthy patterns that make up your life right now.  If you have read this far, you must have the desire to see change in your life.  And that is the first required step!  Begin to make some of these changes in your life, and see what is possible!

I realize that it would be difficult to make all of these changes at once, so start slowly.
You will have some setbacks, and friends and relatives may react strongly when they see the positive changes that you are engineering in your life.  People can be uncomfortable with change.  Let them be.

This is also what inspired the name My Action Matters.  I hope that when people react strongly to your positive change, you visualize the phrase "My action matters!" and realize that what they are doing is ACTUALLY NOTICING AND COMPLEMENTING YOU ON YOUR SUCCESSFUL ACTION!  As Aldous Huxley wrote in the 1800's: "Hell isn't merely paved with good intentions, it is walled and roofed with them".  Move past the intention to change, take action now.
